NAIDOC Celebrations at Taronga

All Australians can celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their cultures at any time of the year. During this NAIDOC time Taronga Zoo joins community members and organisations in celebrating the survival of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and their on-going contribution from 30th June to 20th July.

Join us for the QBE Free Flight Bird Show. It has a special flavour this month as we are showcasing birds of all shapes and sizes, as well as other animals, and their connections to the Dreaming. Come along and experience just some of the animals of the Dreaming and discover the unique abilities of our native birds. The show is held in the scenic Bird Show Theatre - on the edge of a cliff with an amazing view of the harbour.

For thousands of years Aboriginal people have used plants for food, tools, medicine and ceremony. To help celebrate NAIDOC, join us to in the Bush Amphitheatre at Backyard to Bush at 1.30pm weekdays to learn more about native Australian bush foods and their importance to Aboriginal people.

You can show your support for Reconciliation by adding your name to the Sea of Hands seeking justice for Indigenous Australians. Join thousands of other Australians and put your name on a hand for Reconciliation at the Condor Lawns, just near the Bird Show Theatre.

NAIDOC celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their history, culture and achievements.
