Animals Not On Display

Taronga is giving some favourite exhibits facelifts so you might come across some construction work when you visit Taronga Zoo. Although you’ll notice work going on, most of our 2500 animals are on display as usual but there are some that are presently off exhibit

Animals currently off display at Taronga Zoo include:

  • From the 1st May 2012 the playground and waterarea of Backyard to Bush will be closed for some exiciting renovations, however kids can still explore the farmyard, the Backyard to Bush house and bush area. Backyard Buddies, Farm Yard Feed and Spider Talk are still on every day
  • On Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th May, a number of animals along the Rainforest Trail will be off display due to scheduled works. Animals off display during this time include the Small-clawed Otters, Fishing Cats, White-cheeked Gibbons and the walk through Wetlands Aviary
  • Due to some changes in our Western Lowland Gorilla group there are partial closures of some public viewing areas, however the group can still be seen from in their paddock
  • Orang-utans
  • Blue and Gold macaw
  • Pheasant Concal
  • Eastern Barred Bandicoot
  • Yellow-footed Rock Wallaby
  • Ring-tailed Lemurs

The following birds are not currently featured in our QBE Free-Flight Bird Show

Also, our Peregrine Falcon only makes shows when weather permits
