How To Get Here

The quickest and easiest way to get to Taronga Zoo is by public transport. The Zoo is located 12 minutes from Circular Quay by ferry or a short bus trip from the city or North Sydney. Great discounts are offered with combined public transport and zoo entry tickets! 

Travelling to Taronga Zoo during Harbour Bridge Closures

Weekend Zoo visitors have lots of options to travel Taronga while the Harbour Bridge is closed for road works on up to three weekends in January (13-16, 20-23, 27-30) from 10pm Friday until 5am Monday.

Visitors driving to the Zoo can use the Harbour Tunnel. Many people take advantage of the cost-effective Zoo Admission and ferry travel packages that link with rail services at Circular Quay. Bus services will continue to have bridge access too.

Coming over the Harbour

ZooPass - Sydney Ferries
Taronga Zoo is approximately 12 minutes by ferry from the CBD. Ferries depart from Circular Quay every quarter-past and quarter-to the hour.

ZooExpress - Matilda Cruises
Matilda Cruises operates services departing approximately every 45 minutes from Darling Harbour or Circular Quay.
Available from Captain Cook Cruises, No.6 Jetty, Circular Quay and Pier 26, Aquarium Wharf, Darling Harbour

Coming by Bus

From the City

The 247 via Military Road and Bradleys Head Road to Taronga Zoo can be caught from Wynyard - Stand A (Carrington St) or QVB Stand D (York St).

From the North
From Chatswood Interchange - Stand J take the 257 via Victoria Ave, Penshurst Street, Willoughby Road, Pacific Highway, Falcon Street and Military Road. Change at Mosman Junction and take the 247 via Military Road and Bradleys Head Road to Taronga Zoo.

Alternatively, from the Chatswood Interchange, take the 143 from Stand M via Pacific Highway, Falcon Street and Military Road. Disembark near Cowles Road and take the 247 via Military Rd and Bradleys Head Road to Taronga Zoo.

From lower North Shore
From Balmoral Beach, take the 238 from The Esplanade via Raglan Street, Wolseley Road, Middle Head Road and Bradleys Head Road to Taronga Zoo. 

From Clifton Gardens, take the 228 from Morella Road via Thompson Street to Whiting Beach Road for a short walk to Taronga Zoo. 

From the Northern Beaches
Coming from Manly, Balgowlah, Brookvale, Dee Why or Narrabeen, take a bus to Spit Junction and change for the 247 via Military Road and Bradleys Head Road to Taronga Zoo.

Coming by Train

Catch a train to Circular Quay, then take a ferry to Taronga Zoo wharf. Ferries depart from Circular Quay every quarter-past and quarter-to the hour. Or take a train to Wynyard Station to connect with the 247 bus from Stand A.

Driving to the Zoo

Taronga Zoo is located on Bradley's Head Road, Mosman, Sydney. Parking is available at the Zoo.  Entry to the car park is from Bradleys Head Road. A parking fee of $16 is payable.

Sky Safari

The Sky Safari operates from 9.30am – 5.00pm. Use of the Sky Safari is included in the ticket price. All children up to the age of 14 travelling on the Sky Safari must be accompanied by an adult. 


Taronga Conservation Society Australia reserves the right to close the Sky Safari in the event of any required maintenance, adverse weather, during construction and at anytime TCSA deems it unsafe to operate.
