Giraffa camelopardalis

Giraffes are the world's tallest animals. Every giraffe has a unique coat that gets darker with age. They spend their day feeding on leaves using their dark blue tongue to reach high branches, and the blue colour provides protection against sunburn. Giraffes sleep standing up and can run as fast as 60km/hr. Western Plains Zoo has one of the largest herds of giraffe in Australia.
