Kitoto heads to the city lights

Today, Kitoto the giraffe embarked on a big trip from Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo to Taronga Zoo in Sydney, her new home.  After being delayed yesterday due to Kitoto not wanting to go into the transport crate because it was raining, she is now on the road.Kitoto was born at Taronga Western Plains Zoo in 2010 and has lived with the herd on exhibit for the past two years. This journey will be a new experience for Kitoto but she is a very relaxed giraffe and will take the whole trip in her stride.  She will probably be quite inquisitive and looking around, as she will be able to see out of the back of the crate on the truck. The brightly-coloured low loader will pass through Orange, Bathurst and Lithgow before heading through the Blue Mountains into Sydney with a police escort leading the way.Kitoto will then be introduced to the herd at an exhibit which overlooks the city skyline…just a little different to her view in Dubbo.
