Zoo celebrates Wild Mother’s Day

One of the Zoo’s most recent mothers, Lilli Pilli the Koala is celebrating Mother’s Day for the first time. Keepers are very happy with Lilli Pilli’s maternal behaviours especially for a first time mum. She has raised her joey, Banksia, to be a confident individual and now the curious little joey is not only growing in size but growing to be more independent as well. Banksia is now regularly seen in the treetops of the Aussie Walkabout exhibit own her own, exploring the different eucalypts trees in the exhibit and also coming down to the platform to enjoy the fresh leaves the keepers bring daily for the Koala group. What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than to visit the Zoo to see Lilli Pilli and her first joey growing up and become independent.
