Workshop overview

Aboriginal Peoples are the First Custodians of Country, with knowledge passed through generations via stories, language, culture, and a lived relationship with Land, Water and Sky. These stories hold deep teachings about the natural world and the connections between people, animals, and place.

In this engaging Stage 1 workshop, students explore Aboriginal Dreaming Stories to discover how Aboriginal Peoples use knowledge of land, water and sky in everyday life. Through stories and discussion, students will recognise Aboriginal Peoples’ responsibility to Country and identify ways Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples value water, Country and Place.Created in collaboration with Taronga Zoo’s Indigenous Education Officer and guided by our educators, students will learn how animals, landscapes and skies are interwoven within Aboriginal culture, identity and knowledge systems.
