Studying a Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Care at Taronga Zoo was one of the most rewarding, educational and special experiences I have ever had. Being trained and educated by real industry leaders and keepers created so many insights into the zoo keeping world. It was extremely valuable to be able to carry out practical weeks in the zoo on different divisions and be able to make connections with the teams and animals.
My highlight was being able to be on stage during one of the seal presentation and help with a seal training activity in-front of the audience! There were so many unique opportunities whilst studying at Taronga Zoo but some of my favourites are being able to listen in on keeper meetings, being able to watch vet procedures live and of course depending on your division, being able to work so closely with the animals.
