Get up close to a Rhino

Meet Hari, our magnificent Greater One‑Horned Rhino, in this truly exclusive behind‑the‑scenes encounter.

This 20‑minute experience offers a rare and unforgettable opportunity to feel the unique texture of rhino skin and connect with one of the world’s most iconic creatures. Spend one‑on‑one time with our expert keeper as you learn about Hari’s life, behaviours, and conservation story. 

Guests will be required to

  • Wear enclosed shoes during the encounter
  • Guests must be 12 years and older to participate. Guests aged between 12 to 16 must be accompanied by a paying Adult.
  • This is a wheelchair friendly experience

Rhino reserve

Visit Taronga's Rhino Reserve and meet the ‘Fab Four’, Greater One-horned Rhino Hari, and Asian Water Buffalo trio Kahn, Sahasi and Babu who have all recently arrived from Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo.

Animal welfare charter

Taronga offers the opportunity for guests to connect with wildlife and have meaningful animal encounters.
