Welcome to the family, Yadu!

Taronga Zoo Sydney has some very exciting news!

Introducing Yadu, a Southern hairy-nosed wombat joey who has just started emerging from her mother Jedda’s pouch over the past month.

Yadu - which means “good/beautiful” in the Wirangu language of South Australia - is 8-months-old and growing bigger by the day.

Only a handful of Zoos in Australia have had success breeding this species in recent years, so Taronga’s contribution to the regions breeding program is essential.
